The "POPULAR TRUTH"

"Tell them more often, and it becomes their truth"
...On this one sentence I'll build a base for today's piece. Hopefully it'll be a short one, once the heart of the message I'm able to strike right early.
There's this tiny little thing I'm about to expose, and we all have one time or the other been a sucker for it even in our most guarded moments of critical observation and consideration.
Having watched closely, I've observed a few things, one of which I'll take my time to scratch in this piece. More of the talk today hoovers around; Truth, Lies, Deception, the Frequency and Emphasis of it.
A careful examination has shown that humans tend to believe a word, thing, or opinion with the highest degree of occurrence, call it frequency and you'll still not be wrong. Many a times, a lie is only a lie on its first appearance. And subsequent appearance of such begins to trigger some degree of consideration within a regular human mind which by default would want to give it a "fair hearing" or a fair chance on its reappearance.
Observing a few beings around me, it soon began to seem like, the most popular statement, notion or thing assumes the place of the truth, while the unpopular is quick relegated to seem to be the lie.
It is a battle of POPULARITY, a game of MARKETING, one to be won by whose vendors(proponent) sells the most. Does it seem that way to you yet?
The human mind is to a large extent flexible, though varying along individual personality lines, but right here we'll be looking at the larger picture. To get a man to believe a thing, an opinion, a thought or whatever it is you want them too, seem to have been made a degree easier through the power of emphasis and occurrence.
Its more like; "TO GET THEM TO BELIEVE YOU, SAY IT MORE OFTEN" and that way you'll get more people saying it, and the chain gets ever increasing.
If you're sited there thinking this is a fable, its no crime, but I'll rather advise you watch and beware, lest you'll be taken aback by the next thing you'll believe.
"THE MORE IT SINGS IN YOUR EAR, THE HARDER IT RINGS IN YOUR HEART, AND THE FIRMER IT SITS IN YOUR HEAD -TW™
Behold an unsung theory of the manipulation of the human mind on the one hand.
You can only decide not to be gullible, but it does not lie within your powers to stop the proponents of the "Popular Truth" (carefully crafted and well marketed lies actually). Two choices you've got here;
First, you may choose to harden your heart (which could soften with intense work done on it), or SIMPLY DO NOT LISTEN.
Okay, like we do on most of the episode here, a call to self examination is where we'll wrap up the matter. A deep check on what things, opinions you as an individual have accepted as truth on the basis of its popularity, will suffice and do this piece much justice. And if you're finding it difficult to place your hands on one or many, just look around, see and observe what sells as Truth around you.

On the other hand, have you something you're trying to push into the light? Make it popular, increase its degree of appearance or occurrence.
Have you something you want men to believe? Make it popular, Say it more, you'll be surprised how this works. Where's that man/lady who's in a love not reciprocated? Perhaps you've not made your professed love popular? Learn something here, love's a mind game, and a few tricks could do. (off records).
As humans, we are natural suckers-for "The Popular Thing". Consciously or subconsciously, we yield to that which makes the most appearance to our minds.
You're being taught a secret here, call it a bad one and you'll not be far from right, but the idea here is learning of this so you could shield your mind, and guard your heart with all diligence. So beware of what is being emphasized, be alert, quest to know beyond what you were told. "TRUTH MOST TIMES NEVER LIES ON THE SURFACE." -TW™
By nature, TRUTH IS UNPOPULAR, yet we cannot rule out in these days, the "Popular Truths".
Simple lies are more popular than complex truths. "Popular truths" grow into legends, and everyone wins in the spreading of a legend, everyone except the people who care about facts, those who bother to dig deep and look beyond the popularity of the subject in question.
Not being a confusionist was a careful decision I took long ago when I decided to take to writing , else I would have brought to bare here sensitive issues like THE SABBATH which lost its actuality on the grounds of a certain popularity, myth, folk lore,...I'll save the nouns for later. Most holy-days cum holidays are still up for questioning, to mention but a few.
The existence of "Popular Truths" cuts across Religious, Ethnic and Cultural aspects of our lives. And they have survived generations uncountable, owing to the power of propagation they enjoyed. It's no news that lies spread ten times faster than truth. Like wild fire, it spreads, and the moment it gains the trust of the people they become comfortable with it.
Very Few people are motivated to seek sources to verify what they see, hear or read. This is why legends grow in size with age: there are fewer and fewer people who witnessed the events around to question the tale. But I believe it's progress to examine these stories anyway. It's the duty of people with knowledge to use it to shine light on darkness. I know I will never eliminate the lies, but I must use what I know to help as many others find their way as I can.
Yes, majority they say carries the vote, but please be informed they did not necessarily attain that feat because they are true.
"THE MAJORITY DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY AMOUNT TO THE TRUTH" -TW™
"THAT IT IS POPULAR, ACTUALLY CALLS FOR A CLOSER LOOK, NOT AN OVERLOOK." -TW™
