Google Honours Lucy the Australopithecus

Hey,  Have you checked your computer today? Have you used the internet, or launched a search via www.google.com? Did you notice anything strange?   Moving apes replaced the "oo" isn't it?  Wondered what the new Google logo is about? Then let's find out. The 41st anniversary of the discovery of ' Lucy ' has been celebrated with a   Go ogle Doodle . 'Lucy' is a collection of fossilised bones that once made up the skeleton of a hominid from the Australopithecus afarensis species. She  lived in Ethiopia  3.2 million years ago. First discovered in 1973, the discovery was remarkably 'complete' - 40 per cent of her skeleton was found intact, rather than just a  handful of incomplete and damaged fossils  that usually make up remains of a similar age.‎ ‎As her named suggests, Lucy came from the Australopithecus genus, and was a member of the Hominini tribe, just like us. Lucy was one of the later Australopiths, and is believed to have lived in   what is

Who is a Minister of State?

‎Finally, ministers have taken their oaths of office in my country Nigeria. Perhaps there were surprises, perhaps there were not, but a few Nigerians got their speculations right.   Today I watched the President call out names of ministers designate, with their offices one after the other from the 1st to the 36th.  Like in previous successive administration, some he called Ministers, some he called Minister of State or State Ministers. A larger chunk of the populace only have an idea as to who a Minister of State is, but not an exact knowledge.   So...................... Who is a Minister of State? A Minister of State reports to the Cabinet Minister. To be precise, he/she is the junior member who works in close coordination with a Union Minister to help the latter in meeting national goals pertaining to that Ministry. It is incumbent upon a State Minister to deal with issues of the ministry under the aegis of the Union Minister. Who is a Cabinet Minister? A Cabinet

Pistorius' parole: What Will His House Arrest Mean?

I perceive you're wondering what a "House Arrest" will really mean or would not not mean for the out of favour athlete. A run through this concise article would be of help in clearing any confusion or misconceptions.   See article after the cut. Enjoy! South Africa's double-amputee athlete Oscar Pistorius is under house arrest in a mansion with high walls and opulent wrought iron gates in the leafy suburb of Waterkloof in the capital, Pretoria. It is far removed from the city's Kgosi Mampuru II prison, where the athlete has spent the last 12 months. The Paralympian - who was released from jail a day earlier than expected, presumably to avoid a media scrum - will be under house arrest for the next four years for shooting dead his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine's Day 2013, and for negligently handling a firearm at a restaurant in the same year. Pistorius was sentenced to five years in prison, but under South Africa's laws an offender can be put unde

HOW MUCH DO YOU KNOW YOUR BET PARTNER? (TOP 10 BET COMPANIES IN NIGERIA WITH REASONS)

I had always wondered how teeming fans could get something out of sports for their ‎unalloyed, and perhaps fanaticism towards both local and foreign football (other sports) clubs. They seem to shout the most, fight about issues, argue (sometimes to the death), and yet get/make no dime out of it. So my puzzling continued until the world finally launched into an era of sport (prediction) betting. I would and am not via this post encouraging nor discouraging anyone's participation in sport betting, but I sure can tell you that like every other endeavor (business), its got its LOSES & GAINS. Hence, the choice is yours to make. Credits to a brilliant blogger (Tayo Theophilus) who in one of his posts elucidated marketable points about some of the available sport bet companies in Nigeria. now let's have this knowledge in full. With the increasing surge of football traders in Nigeria, many are now seeing the opportunity to start making money from football betting righ

The Differences Between E, H, H+ and 3G Networks On Your SmartPhone

DID YOU KNOW?‎  In the simplest way, the difference between them is speed. E is for EDGE (2.75G), which is an enhanced form of what in old phones used to be called GPRS (2.5 G). It has relatively slow data rates of around 236kbps (1mbps peak speed). But actual usage speeds are often lower. Don't expect to stream a video with E showing on your network bar. What Is 3G Network & WCDMA? 3G is the next one. It uses WCDMA signalling. The data rates here are comparable to edge but It offers better quality, better latency, lower delay, so making it more suitable for audio, video and streaming services. Meaning of H, H+ And Their Differences H is HSPA which stands for high speed packet access. It's an improvement over 3G and is mix of HSDPA (downlink) and HSUPA (uplink). Major changes were done on the radio side which increased the data rates to up to 3 and 7Mbps (in theory, its more). Many Smartphone users in Nigeria will have noticed that H has replaced 3G on their phones H+ is Ev

NYSC To Deploy First Class Graduates To Universities – DG‎

Like that old familiar line from somewhere in the New testament Bible; "The child in my womb leaped for joy" feeling, so it was for me on hearing this news. Obviously I have wasted no time in revealing my stand point on this novel development .  "It's long overdue" I felt within me. Its something I had always waited for. However down trodden our tertiary education, and I must say education at all level in Nigeria has gone, a First Class degree isn't sold with trays in the market just yet. You have your opinions about that sentence, I agree. (A yoruba adage says and I interprete ; "If you journey far, you'll come accross a hunchbacked ‎squirrel ") Kudos to those who where able to bag such an enviable degree from their various institutions of learning (I didn't) .  The recent development by the NYSC in ploughing back excellence produced by the Universities and Polytechnic into the same is commendable. It saddens my heart to see that graduates

WHY YOUR PAY-TV CAN'T BE PAY AS YOU GO, But Instead Your Subscription Keeps Running Even While You Not Watching.

You wish, very earnestly, that your pay-TV subscription would not run while you are not watching. You are not alone. Almost every pay-TV subscriber would want it that way. That would make us use our subscription in a way similar to how we use the airtime on our phones when we are on the pay-as-you-go platform. It would be terrific to subscribe for one month and have the subscription stretched over three or four months by being billed only when we watch. If we do not watch for a cumulative of 10 days in a month, perhaps because we leave for work very early to return very late, attend many social engagements or travel out of town, we would have gained 10 days in the next month because we would not have been billed for the time we were not watching. In very simple terms, you would want to be billed only when you watch-for an hour, two hours or more. It is just terrific. No other way to describe it. But it is an eminently unrealisable wish. It is also technologically unworkable. First and
